BlackBerry BBM Music launched

BlackBerry had announced its BBM Music service way back in August. Now, finally the BBM Music app is available for download, reveals the BlackBerry blog. Starting with Canada, U.S. and Australia, it is expected to roll out in other regions shortly.

This ‘$5 for 50 songs’ service received flak from many music friends. Through this blog post, the company ‘clarifies’ that the BBM Music premium subscription entitles a user to more than 50 songs. Apart from picking these 50 songs from millions in its catalogue, the user can add more music by accessing their friends’ playlists.

“The more BBM friends with BBM Music Premium subscriptions you have, the more songs you can share! And the sharing goes both ways. Your BBM friends with BBM Music Premium subscriptions will have access to your profile music too, and can access it anytime,” says the blog. Basically, you and your group of friends can pick songs accordingly so that the collection keeps growing and so do the number of BBM Music members. Getting in touch with BBM friends and chatting within the BBM Music app in real time is also made possible.

The BBM Music service allows users to store music on a microSD card for offline listening. The premium subscription comes for a price of USD 4.99 (Rs.245), while it offers trial versions for upto two months in US, as well as Canada, and one month in Australia. Users can also pick the free version which claims to offer a similar social experience as the premium subscription, but with 30 second song previews.
