Apart from the upcoming Mass Effect Trilogy, BioWare has also been working on a Wii U port for its sci-fi space opera - Mass Effect 3. The company has released a trailer for the Special Edition of the Wii U version of Mass Effect 3.
Mass Effect 3 deals with the full force of the Reaper invasion with the Reaper's first target being Earth itself. The game puts you in the shoes of Commander Shepard as you gather up forces from all over the galaxy to take back earth and destroy the reaper menace once and for all.
The major focus of the Wii U version of the game seems to have gone into the controller. The Wii U's controller lets you keep an eye on the minimap and lets you access things like squad control, biotic powers and engineering powers, and lets you quickly use these powers and issue commands with a simple touch on the screen. The bonus in the Special Edition includes an additional mission and squad member, an exclusive new weapon, the Extended Cut ending, and an interactive back story experience that details the events that took place in the previous Mass Effect games.
Shepard is going to save the galaxy on the Wii U
Recently, lead designer of BioWare, Casey Hudson, had taken to Twitter to ask fans about what the next Mass Effect game could be about. Many gamers have replied to Hudson with ideas for the direction the company could take the series in. While some asked for female Shepard to be the default character, others have asked for more information on the back story, like the Prothean-Reaper war, while others have asked for a chronological sequel instead of a prequel. There have also been requests for the ability to play as other races from the galaxy.
Back in October, BioWare had said that the main protagonist of the next Mass Effect game won’t simply be a rehash of Commander Shepard. BioWare Montreal producer Fabrice Condominas told VG247 that the studio has never shied away from the fact that Mass Effect series will continue after the end of the current trilogy, but with a completely new hero.
When asked what the next games in the series will have compared to the current Mass Effect trilogy, Condominas said, “There is one thing we are absolutely sure of – there will be no more Shepard, and the trilogy is over”. He continued, “This is really our starting point. Now the Mass Effect universe is vast, and very, very rich. So at this point in time, we don’t even know what kind of time frame we’re going to be in. All we’re doing is more gathering ideas from the teams, gathering feedback to see several things”.
The company is gearing up to release the Mass Effect Trilogy set. Recently, BioWare had released the launch trailer for Mass Effect Trilogy. The trailer shows a lot of the highlights of the story, without spoiling anything, such as Shepard’s importance, and the battle between the Normandy and the Collector’s ship. The trilogy set, as the name implies, will include all three Mass Effect games and will see a release on the PC, the Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3.
