While BioWare is all set to release the latest downloadable content (DLC) for Mass Effect 3, the company isn’t sitting on its haunches when it comes to a sequel in the franchise either. According to VG247 , Casey Hudson, lead designer of the Mass Effect series, said on twitter : “We’re in early stages of designing a completely new Mass Effect game. What would you want to see in it?” This has been met by a huge response by gamers.

Many gamers have replied to Hudson with ideas for the direction the company could take the series in. While some asked for female Shepard to be the default character, others have asked for more information on the back story, like the Prothean-Reaper war, while others have asked for a chronological sequel instead of a prequel. There have also been requests for the ability to play as other races from the galaxy.

So what exactly are we looking at?

Back in October, BioWare had said that the main protagonist of the next Mass Effect game won’t simply be a rehash of Commander Shepard. BioWare Montreal producer Fabrice Condominas told VG247 that the studio has never shied away from the fact that Mass Effect series will continue after the end of the current trilogy, but with a completely new hero.

When asked what the next games in the series will have compared to the current Mass Effect trilogy, Condominas said, “There is one thing we are absolutely sure of – there will be no more Shepard, and the trilogy is over”. He continued, “This is really our starting point. Now the Mass Effect universe is vast, and very, very rich. So at this point in time, we don’t even know what kind of time frame we’re going to be in. All we’re doing is more gathering ideas from the teams, gathering feedback to see several things”.

The company is gearing up to release the Mass Effect Trilogy set. Recently, BioWare had released the launch trailer for Mass Effect Trilogy . The trailer shows a lot of the highlights of the story, without spoiling anything, such as Shepard’s importance, and the battle between the Normandy and the Collector’s ship. The trilogy set, as the name implies, will include all three Mass Effect games and will see a release on the PC, the Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3.

Recently, EA had announced the release date for the PlayStation 3 version of the game. The PS3 version of the game is set to release on December 7. The company had earlier also detailed the downloadable content that will be bundled with the trilogy set, but had given no word about the PlayStation 3 version. According to Eurogamer, the PS3 version of the trilogy set will have Bring Down the Sky for the first game, all the DLCs, such as Kasumi and Lair of the Shadow Broker for the second game, and no DLC for the third game.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
