Bethesda opens teaser website, registers Fallout 4 trademark

Bethesda seems to be working on a new Fallout title after all. According to PCGamer , there are a few hints that the company is gearing up to make an official announcement soon. The first is a new website, TheSurvivor2299.com . It features nothing more than a countdown timer which seems to be ticking down to December 11. The second major hint is a recently-discovered trademark filing for Fallout 4. The trademark has been registered by Bethesda Softworks, putting questions about its legitimacy to rest.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

All of the evidence points to the company making an official announcement for Fallout 4 on December 11. This would be the first time Bethesda has worked on a game in the Fallout franchise since 2008, when it released Fallout 3. While there was another game in 2010—Fallout: New Vegas—it was developed by Obsidian using the same engine as Fallout 3.

Bring on the apocalypse!

The Fallout series consists of RPGs set in a post-apocalyptic America. The apocalypse was caused by a new World War, and humanity was driven to building and living in vaults to protect themselves from the nuclear holocaust. The game is famous for its overall serious story with a liberal dose of tongue-in-cheek humour and a strange technological aesthetic which owes its existence to the fact that miniaturisation was never discovered in the Fallout universe.

Fallout 3 starts in Vault 101 where you live with your father. You grow up relatively normally until the day your father decides to leave. With everyone in the vault trying to capture you and interrogate you, you decide that it would be best if you escaped and looked for your dad.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
