Bejing Bans Phone Signal Blocker In Exams

The education system in China is not going to depend on mobile phone signal shielding machines anymore, to monitor cheating in exams. The Beijing Education Examinations Authority said it will not use technology to block mobile signals in the forthcoming senior high school exams and college entrance exams this year. Handset shielding machines were used last year in Shandong, Heilongjiang and Liaoningas as well as Beijing for school and college exams but the technology may have had several side effects on students. “Radiation generated by the shielding instruments may impair brain cells, crystalline lens and man’s reproductive system,” Tang Tai, an engineer with the Qinghua (Tsinghua) University said. Tang, who thinks it’s irresponsible on the part of the government to employ such machines had repeatedly called for a ban on the technology.
