Bada 2.0 to Get Improved UI and NFC Support

The Wave phones from Samsung were quite something, with their very own Bada OS. The very same Bada OS seems to be getting an upgrade from Samsung soon. Called Bada 2.0, the OS looks to have quite a few features.

Bada 2.0 with improved features

The OS will be open-sourced and have SDK support for Linux and Mac, thus enabling many more users to customize their own apps with the phone. In terms of the UI, the OS will provide a “smart” home-screen and with the help of layout management and animation effects, users can personalize the UI.

Hopefully the OS has backwards compatibility

It looks like Samsung wants to take Bada 2.0 to a whole new level with NFC (Near Field Communications) Support and Push notifications. Facebook and Twitter will be available with third party SNS integration. They are also coming up with something similar to Google’s Mobile Ads, called the Ad gateway, which could help generate revenue for the company.

There could be a problem if current Wave phone users won’t be able to upgrade their current Operating System. Although Samsung hasn’t confirmed this, many should start hoping and praying that they can upgrade from Bada v 1.2.
