Asus has announced a new budget smartphone for the Indian market called the ZenFone 3S Max. Priced at Rs 14,999 it will be available online and retails stores starting today.

This is a slightly better version of the ZenFone 3 Max, the one with the 5.2-inch one. The handset features a 5.2-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass on top, and is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. The storage is expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB). In the camera department, there is a 13MP sensor at the back with with an f/2.0 aperture, 5P Largan lens and dual-LED flash. On the front there is an 8MP camera to take selfies.

The smartphone runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update with ZenUI 3.0 on top. The UI offers features like and multi-window mode, ZenMotion Touch Gesture, Bluelight filter, and more. The USP will yet again be the battery as it will come with a 5,000mAh unit which should easily last the whole day. Rest of the features include a front mounted fingerprint scanner while connectivity features include dual SIM support, 4G LTE connectivity, GPS/A-GPS, microUSB with OTG, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and FM Radio.

The price is pretty decent although there are handsets like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 , Lenovo P2 and the LeEco Le 2 which would be a good competition for the smartphone.
