Asus unveils 6-inch FonePad Note with 1080p display

At the ongoing Computex event, Asus has unveiled a new addition to its FonePad line-up – the 6-inch FonePad Note. The phablet has a 6-inch Super IPS+ display with a full HD 1080p resolution, giving it a pixel density of 367 ppi. It runs on Android 4, but it is unclear if it is the latest build (Android 4.2.2) or the first iteration of Jelly Bean (Android 4.1).

Much like the HTC One, the FonePad Note has a dual stereo-speaker setup at the front of the device. Interestingly, however, the FonePad runs on 1.6GHz Intel Atom Clover Trail processor instead of ARM-based chips. The 2GB of RAM in the phablet should make multitasking a breeze. Like other FonePad devices, the FonePad Note has 3G and voice calling capabilities.

Asus is taking the ‘Note" moniker to heart and will be bundling a stylus with the FonePad Note. The company has announced that it will be releasing special apps that take advantage of the stylus.

For photographers, the FonePad Note is equipped with an 8 megapixel camera at the back as well as a 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera.

Asus had earlier launched the 7-inch FonePad in India back in April. The tablet cost Rs 15,999. The tablet has a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Under the hood, it’s powered by a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor, with a PowerVR GC540 GPU handling the graphics side of things. It has 1GB of RAM, so multi-tasking won’t be that big of an issue.
