Asus has announced that it will be one of the first companies to adopt Nvidia’s recently-unveiled G-Sync technology. The next set of the company’s monitors slated for a 2014 release will be integrating the chip into its hardware. The company has been working on the project with Nvidia for the last year. The monitor using the technology will be the VG248QE gaming monitor, and will be priced at $399 (Rs 24,555 approx).

“Asus strives to provide the best possible gaming experience by being at the forefront of technology and innovation. We are excited to be first to support and embrace Nvidia’s new G-SYSNC technology in upcoming Asus gaming monitors. Gamers are certain to be impressed with its incredible step-up in smoothness and visual quality.” said Vincent Chou, Associate Vice President of Display Business Unit at AsusTek.

The Asus VG248QE will use G-Sync

G-Sync is a module that can either be built into monitors by OEMs or installed separately by a user on an existing display. Developed by Nvidia, the chip works well with all Kepler-based GPUs, starting with the GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost.

G-Sync aims to improve monitors by synchronising the frame rates of GPUs with the monitor’s refresh rate, both of which are usually set at around 60 Hz. Sometimes, games with variable frame rates suffer because of this, which leads to screen tearing.

Usually, players are forced to keep V-Sync on through in-game settings, which in turn can cause problems with input delay and increase stress on the GPU. Nvidia hopes to fix all of this with the G-Sync, which can not only solve frame rate issues by syncing it with the monitor’s refresh rate, but also take away the need to use V-Sync, removing the extra stress on the GPU that comes with it.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
