Asus launches Transformer Book T100 and Fonepad 7 in India

Asus has announced the launch of the Transformer Book T100 and the improved Fonepad 7 in India today. The Transformer Book is a portable laptop that can double up as a Windows 8.1 tablet with a detachable HD display and the Fonepad 7 now features an Intel Atom processor as well as HSPA+ 3G.

The Transformer Book T100 was first announced at the IDF last month . It’s an ultraportable laptop and features an Intel Atom Bay Trail Z3740 quad-core processor. Asus says that the energy efficient processor will help power the laptop for up to 11 hours on full battery. The laptop features a 10.1-inch IPS multi-touch touchpad with wide 178-degree viewing angles and has a resolution of 1,366x768 pixels. Not much has been said about its GPU, but Asus says that it will be using Intel HD (Gen 7) Graphics.

The detachable tablet contains 2GB of RAM, a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera and no back camera. There are ports available on the tablet for Micro-HDMI, Micro-USB, a microSD card and headphones. The keyboard contains a single USB 3.0 port too. The keyboard dock features precision engineered keys for comfortable typing as well.

The Asus Fonepad 7 is an update to the popular Fonepad and is a 7-inch Android device that also features a new non-slip finish as well as a faster HSPA+ 3G with up to 42Mbit/s download speeds. It is powered by an Intel Atom Z2560 processor with Hyper-Threading technology and will come with Android version 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. The tablet weighs in at a sleek 340-grams and is merely 10.5mm thick. It has a smudge-resistant coating that wards off fingerprints and Mirecast wireless video streaming to let you check out videos on compatible HDTVs.

A customised user interface that integrates social media information, allowing users to check out updates on their contact list features on the tablet. Asus is also offering Asus WebStorage for up to 5GB of lifetime storage as well as Asus WebStorage for Microsoft Office on the move along with the Fonepad 7.

The Asus Fonepad 7 ME372CG will be available for Rs 17,499 in India starting November 2013 and the Asus Transformer Book T100 will be available for Rs 34,099. Both will be made available at select Asus authorised retail outlets.
