“The new offering distinguishes itself from the sea of tablets with its aggressive pricing and an optional accessory that easily transforms it into a notebook,” Huang said.

Transformer Prime comes with Android Honeycomb 3.2 Operating System, which can be free upgraded to the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

Other salient features include a MicroSD Card Reader, Micro HDMI port and eight GB life time ASUS Web storage space as well as an eight MP rear auto-focus camera with LED flash.

The company is looking at expanding its portfolio in the Indian market in the coming months with introduction of newer models with 3G connectivity as well as other form factors like 7-inch devices.
