Asus has showcased its new desktop motherboard - TUF Sabertooth X99 - at CeBIT 2015. The company claims that it is the first consumer desktop motherboard to offer full compatibility with all NVM Express storage options. Based on the latest Intel X99 Express chipset, the TUF Sabertooth X99 features the LGA 2011-v3 socket Intel Core i7 processors. The motherboard features TUF Detective technology that displays live system information on smartphones and tablets. TUF Sabertooth X99 also comes equipped with the TUF Thermal Armor, TUF Thermal Radar 2 and TUF ICe technologies for cooling. For durability, it comes with TUF Fortifier and TUF components, including 10K capacitors, TUF chokes and a military-grade MOSFET. It supports all NVM Express storage devices, including PCI Express (PCIe), M.2 PCI Express and the latest 2.5-inch solid-state drives (SSDs) with SFF-8639 via the mini SAS HD connector on the Hyper Kit expansion card, says the company. It also comes with built-in USB 3.1. The Hyper Kit expansion card allows support for 2.5-inch SSDs with mini-SAS HD and promises SSD transfer speeds that are up to 3.5X faster than traditional SSDs. TUF Sabertooth X99 also claims to be the first TUF motherboard with TUF Detective, a free companion app for detailed system information. With the app installed on a smartphone or tablet, users can monitor key parameters, detect and diagnose errors and control the PC’s power status with touchscreen ease. TUF Sabertooth X99 includes upgraded TUF ESD Guards 2, which is said to be two times (2X) stronger at defending ports against sudden electrostatic discharge, including all USB sockets and audio connectors. All TUF motherboards, including TUF Sabertooth X99, are built with components certified for military use and undergo serious server-level burn-in tests, including over 7,000 hours of compatibility checks with over 1,000 devices — and ever board is covered by TUF’s five-year warranty.
