Asus has launched the Chromebox mini PC in India and all three variants of the boxy system will feature Intel Haswell internals. The range is priced at Rs 21,000 onwards, going up to Rs 58,000 for the top-end model. The range features a choice of Intel Celeron 2955U, Core i3-4010U, and Core i7-4600U processors. The base level system does not support 4K display output, but the other two do. There’s room for two 2GB DDR3-1600 SO-DIMM slots and Asus includes the standard 16GB of storage in the form of an SSD based on the new M.2 (or NGFF) spec, which should ideally offer more bandwidth than mSATA. The base level Celeron system gets 2GB RAM by default, while the other two come with 4GB memory. Supplementing that is a 100GB Google Drive subscription, free for two years, that comes standard with Chrome OS PCs. That’s a healthy selection of ports, and there’s a card reader too. The system comes with a VESA mount, so you can attach it to the back of a TV or monitor, for a cleaner look. In India, Asus is throwing in a Chrome keyboard and mouse combination with the machines, which will be available in blue colour only.
