Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag trailer shows how to take over forts

Ubisoft’s Ashraf Ismail is at it again in a new video that shows off Assassin’s Creed 4’s gameplay. In the video, Ismail shows off and explains a new aspect of the game’s naval combat; namely, attacking and capturing a fort. The video made its debut at last week’s Gamescom. Check it out:

Ismail explains that forts are all over the world and players can take them out. In the video, an early-game fort is showcased, thus making it easier to take out since it only has two defensive towers. The fort also has a couple of ships guarding the wateres nearby. Players can use the new mortar weapon that lets them use a barrage of attacks from a long range.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

The mortar, as explained by Ismail, is a difficult weapon to use since it has to be aimed manually. This means that you are better off using it against stationary targets like forts’ towers instead of on highly-mobile ships in the middle of a fight. However, when its attack does land, it is extremely effective at wreaking havoc.

After taking out the fort’s defenses, Ismail then goes for a head-on attack on the fort. The main aim of this part of the take-over is to find and take out the fort’s commander. As soon as the commander is killed, the fort becomes Edward’s. It will attack any enemy ship that can pose a threat to Edward.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U on November 1. The PlayStation 4 version will be a launch title for the console on November 29. The release dates for the Xbox One and PC versions haven’t been revealed yet.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
