Ask.com launches Android-based Mobile Q&A

After the success of its iOS app, Ask.com is bringing its Q&A platform to Android mobile devices. Ask.com gave up its search operations to its competitors and has focused on rebuilding its Q&A platform. Ask says that the app is available from both, the Android App Market and the Amazon App Store. It includes voice to text features, the ability to get web search results and and top-voted publishers from other Ask.com users. You can send a question to a specific user and get notifications everytime someone posts back to a question you asked. These features are all also available on the iPhone version of the app.

There are a few Android only features to this app. One such feature is the ability to filter Q&A by topics that match user profiles. Users can follow other users that provide interesting answers and personalize their Q&A experience using these connections. Ask says that their iPhone app makes up for about 55 percent of their mobile traffic while Android, right now, makes up for 40 percent.

Paddy does not, we repeat, definitely does NOT belong in the category of Mac-head (yeh right!). She does get excited by her iPhone and her iMac and her iPod Nano and her Macbook and Bali's iPad and her future iHouse (patent pending). Ok, so maybe her head is a little bit forbidden fruit shaped. She likes shooting video (iPhone 4 camera zindabad!) and editing montages (Final Cut Pro zindabad!), whether the scene calls for it or no. In her spare time, she's either kicking it on stage with KB the keyboard or kicking butt at Taekwondo.
