Ashton Kutcher lands lead role in Jobs' biopic

The news of Ashton Kutcher playing former Apple CEO, the late Steve Jobs in an indie picture, titled ‘Jobs’ has in fact borne fruit and is no April Fool’s joke. The information regarding the actor of Two and a Half Men, Kutcher, donning the role of Steve Jobs was first broken by Variety yesterday, April 1st, 2012 and this led many people to believe that it had been an April Fool’s prank. As per the report, the author states that this will be an indie picture, titled ‘Jobs’, which will be directed by Joshua Michael Stern from a script written by Matt Whiteley.

The resemblance is uncanny

The report states that the film will chronicle Steve Jobs’ path from that of a hippie to being the co-founder of Apple, and there on to becoming one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of this present generation. Five Star Institute’s Mark Hulme will be financing and producing the film. Production of the biopic is scheduled to start in May, the time when Ashton Kutcher is on leave from his hit television series which airs on CBS, Two and a Half Men.

The author, Jeff Sneider has then gone on to insist that his report is authentic and just not some April Fool’s joke by stating on Twitter, “Guys, do you REALLY think the top @Variety brass & my editors would let me post an APRIL FOOL’S DAY joke on the homepage? Uh… no.” To maintain the authenticity of the report, the author has Tweeted at Ashton Kutcher saying, “@APlusK Mr. Kutcher, I just broke what may be the biggest film role of your career… Do me a solid & hook a brotha up with a RT?!?”

A report by The Hollywood Reporter has also backed Sneider’s article by stating that Kutcher is a natural to play Jobs as the resemblance between the two is unmistakable. Speaking on the biopic of Steve Jobs, the report states, “I_t’s a high-profile assignment for Kutcher, and Jobs looks to get off the ground before Sony pulls together its own Steve Jobs biopic. Last fall, Sony snapped up the film rights to Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography of Jobs that was published within weeks of Jobs’ death on Oct. 5, 2011._”
