The Satchi Art Gallery in London, has redesigned its website, Stuart.com , to create a social-network for artists and encouragie lesser known, struggling artists.
The website makes all paintings available for sale, with neither the buyer nor the seller paying anything to dealers or middleman. The site allows artists to sign up and create their own customized web pages and upload their paintings, along with other snippets and information. Moreover, site visitors may chat with other stuart users and artists online, about queries on their work. The portal also hosts forums for live discussions and debates online.
London-based art collector, Charles Saatchi, had created a section on his Web site in May, for artists of to post their work at no charge. His website, ‘Your Gallery’, now showcases contributions by 20,700 artists and 2,000 pieces of video art.
Stuart, the social network for artists also has video support and a search engine for artists on Stuart.
