Archos has just officially announced the new Generation 4 portable media players - the 404 and the 604. The 404 has a 3.5” LCD and the 604 has a 4.3” LCD. Both of them feature a 30 GB drive, support for all DVD resolution videos, TV output with the optional DVR Station, TV recording in MPEG-4 and of course photo viewing and music playback. The 404 should cost around Rs 14,000 and the 604 around Rs 16,450 (converted cost of $300 and $350 respectively). These two PMPs will be upgraded later to a newer 404 with a touchscreen and an integrated camcorder and a 604 with wireless capabilities, enabling you to download content off the web. There’s also talk of a new 504 PMP with a whopping 160 GB of capacity, making it the most capacious PMP, at least on paper right now.
