Apple's wireless charging accessory may not be ready yet; third party Qi chargers will work with new iPhones: KGI

The Apple iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus launch is just a few hours away. But the stories around the launch keep pouring in. According to the latest reports, Apple might not be ready with its own wireless charging accessory in time for the launch. [caption id=“attachment_3972497” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]iPhone 8 render iPhone 8 render[/caption] KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo has stated that Apple’s own wireless charger will take some time to be released. The reason according to Kuo is the stringent requirements for wireless charger radio frequency specifications that Apple has, which is causing the delay in mass production. But the upcoming iPhones will be supporting wireless inductive charging standards, so third part Qi chargers can be used for charging the new iPhones, according to 9to5Mac. There is no clarity as to when Apple will release its own wireless charger. KGI says that Apple is waiting for a ’technological breakthrough’ before committing to any mass production of the accessory. There aren’t any leaks out related to the wireless charger, whereas everything else about the iPhones is out there. According to 9to5Mac, Apple may announce the accessory at the event, with a later shipping date. But KGI says that won’t be the case as there is no clarity on the shipping time-frame. So for users planning to make use of the wireless charging feature on the new iPhones, will have to settle with third party Qi wireless chargers. Apple is expected to announce three phones — the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the 10th-anniversary edition iPhone X — at its annual event in the new Apple Park in Cupertino.
