Apple iPad, iPhone owners surf a lot more porn than Android users, finds PornHub

Apple is known to shout out big numbers during the WWDC keynote, but here are a few numbers which CEO Tim Cook and 'Superman' Craig Federighi didn't brag about.

According to Pornhub, one of the biggest pornographic streaming sites in the world, Apple's Safari browser is the most used browser to surf the website. Pornhub sees up to 38 million daily visitors and a major part of the traffic comes from Apple's default browser. Apple loves to boast about users using its devices and saying that devices running the competition's OS aren't being used as much, but we are sure this is not what the company means.

73 percent of tablet users were using mobile Safari which is a browser only found on the iPad. In comparison, only 13.6 percent were using Google Chrome to browse the website. It must be noted that Chrome is available on both iOS and Android platforms, so it stands to reason that at least some iPad users were also using Chrome. So the overall figure could be much higher than the 73 percent.

The default AOSP or Android browser took third place with 7.8 percent of the share, while 4.8 percent of the users used Silk which is Amazon Kindle Fire's default option. Blackberry is showing poor results not only in sales, but also in the usage of its devices with a miniscule 0.69 percent traffic arriving from its browser on the website.

Apple's iPhone claims the first spot when it comes to smartphone browsers too with iPhone Safari contributing to 38.2 percent of the website traffic, while Android users make up 29.4 percent of the total views. Chrome took third place on both iPhone and Android platforms with 18 percent visitors that visited Pornhub. Windows Phone users with their old school Internet Explorer contributed 2.4 percent, followed by Opera Mini with 2.3 percent of the visitors using it for browsing through Pornhub.

The website has also revealed more about usage patterns and times for various platforms. "Internet Explorer users are used to taking their time – whether it’s just opening a new window, or apparently while watching porn. On desktop computers, the average IE visitor spends nearly 10 and a half minutes on Pornhub." Safari users are quicker and spend an average of 10 minutes 23 seconds, followe by Chrome (8 mins 24 sec) and Firefox (8 min 29 sec). Opera users seem to be quicket to exit, as the average duration is 7 and a half minutes.

And there was more too. "On desktop computers, Safari users look at 9 different Pornhub pages before they find just the right video, followed by Internet Explorers at 8.2. Chrome and Firefox again are side by side at 7.6 and 7.4 respectively, and Opera in just under 7." As for smartphones IE leads the way with over 10 Pornhub pages on an average per user. "Tablet users with Amazon Silk look at just under 10 pages, followed closely by Safari and Chrome. BlackBerry tablets require one less page (8.3) and Android Browser gets there in 7.5 pages."

So that was about usage patterns, but what about searches? "Chrome and Firefox users are most likely to search for 'mom' videos, while Safari users prefer 'massage' videos. Interestingly, Internet Explorer leads more people to search for 'Japanese' videos by a pretty large margin. Other nationalities that make our browser based lists are 'French' at number 10 on IE and 'german' at number 4 on Firefox.
