Apple's iWatch is real and it's reportedly coming in Q4

A New York Times report has published a comprehensive profile of Apple chief Tim Cook. While the report talks about everything from his childhood memories to his work on human rights, it has also revealed some hitherto unknown details about the rumoured iWatch.   Firstly, the report says that the device (although there has been no confirmation from Apple that anything of the sort is in the pipeline) is expected to launch in the fourth quarter. This time frame was also **predicted**  by KGI securities’ analyst Ming Chi Kuo.   The report also indicates that Cook is not as involved in the iWatch, unlike his predecessor Steve Jobs who was very hands on with all of Apple’s new products.   “Lower-level employees praise Cook’s approachability and intellect. But some say he is less hands-on in developing products than his predecessor. Cook is less involved in the minutiae of product engineering for the watch, and has instead delegated those duties to members of his executive cabinet, including Mr. Ive, according to people involved in the project, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to press, ” according to the report.   Cook is said to focus on ’broader implications’ of the iWatch such as the features such as the heart rate monitor, how the data aggregation could help doctors and so on. This doesn’t mean he is any less involved with the devices. Going against the grain, we did see him launch the iPad mini after taking the realms of the company, which turned out to be the bestselling tablet.   Other reports on the iWatch, indicate that Cook is also looking for talent beyond the company to fine tune the product and has made multiple hires  to this end.   Michael O’Reilly, former medical officer of the Masimo Corporation that makes health monitoring devices was hired - presumably in a bid to ramp up these services on the device. Paul Deneve, the former Yves Saint Laurent chief will also be working on special projects, reportedly in the medical and health sector.
