As an iOS user, there’s a high chance that you’ve been affected by an iOS bug that’s been doing the rounds since iOS 8. The bug in question affects certain games and the Game Centre on Apple devices, wherein you’re greeted with a white screen and can do nothing except press the home button to exit the game or Game Centre.
Dubbed the white screen of death, the bug itself is not an iPhone killer as such, but those who’re affected can’t access Game Centre and certain games without the screen turning white, which can get frustrating.
MacRumours and TouchArcade report that in severe cases, accessing Game Centre settings from the Settings menu causes the Settings app to freeze as well. MacRumours adds that the forum post related to the bug, on TouchArcade, has already crossed 70 pages.
It’s not clear as to why this bug still isn’t fixed, we’re at iOS 9.3.1 after all, but there seems to be a glimmer of hope on the horizon. Reports have emerged that the iOS 9.3.2 beta, released to the public about a week ago, has fixed the issue. Be warned, the reports relate to a beta version of iOS and the fix may not actually make it to the final release, if it is even a fix in the first place.
If you have been facing issues with iOS’ Game Center, you can at least take succour from the fact that you’re not alone.
