Apple's budget iPhone 5C with A6 processor and Retina display announced

Apple has finally unveiled its latest iPhone in a range of colours, including blue, green, pink, yellow and white. And the features seem good, with the latest iPhone addition coming with a 4-inch Retina display. Internally the iPhone comes with an A6 chip and also straps on an 8-megapixel iSight camera. 

The new iPhone 5C has been designed around a single, hard-coated polycarbonate body with a steel, reinforced frame thrown in. The steel band also doubles up as the phone’s multiband antenna. Apple has supplemented the metal frame with microfiber-lined cases and is offering six cases for users to choose from.

The new iPhone comes with a new FaceTime HD camera and also supports iOS 7, the latest operating system from Apple. The new device also comes with support for up to 13 LTE wireless bands, according to the company. Connectivity-wise, the newest addition comes with support for dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 thrown in. Apple maintains that the iPhone 5C will give 10 hours of talk time on 3G networks, up to 10 hours of video playback and up to 40 hours of audio playback. Apple is also throwing in some of the most popular iWork apps like Pages, Numbers and Keynote for free with any newly purchased iOS device.

The iPhone 5C will sell in the US for $99 (Rs 6,500 approx) for the 16GB model and $199 (Rs 13,500 approx) for the 32GB model on a two-year contract. The unlocked price is a steep $549. Apple’s latest iPhone addition will be up for pre-order from September 13 and will be available in select markets like the US, Australia, Canada and China from September 20. The company has also promised that the iPhone 5C will be hitting more than 200 countries by the end of the year.
