Apple’s WorldWide Developers Conference (WWDC) begins today in San Francisco. From iOS 7 to Apple’s rumoured iRadio service, here’s a look at what to expect at the conference today. WWDC starts today and goes on till 14 June.
iOS 7: The next edition of Apple’s mobile software for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPads is likely to be shown off today.
The biggest change that is expected is in terms of designs. 9to5mac, had reported in the past that Apple’s design chief Jonathan Ive seems to have gone for a complete design overhaul. The report states that,in software design meetings with Apple’s iOS designers, accompanied by Apple’s Human Interface vice president Greg Christie, Ive has shared his reasoning behind his distaste for the texture-heavy (skeuomorphic, a recording app will have an old fashioned microphone_) interfaces heralded by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and former iOS chief Scott Forstall._
9to5Mac last week reported some of the changes which included: the yellow notepad-inspired Notes app and Leather-bound Calendar interfaces on the iPhone and iPad will no longer be present.
The report also adds that the iOS 7 could come with built-in functionality for automatically uploading to Flickr and Vimeo. iOS6 already allows users to post directly from Facebook and Twitter without opening the app.
iOS 7 design_hasblack and white elements and is flat all over_. As far as the new OS is concerned, John Gruber of_ DaringFireball.net, (previously Apple blogger),_notedthat work on the OS was running late and engineers had been pulled from OS X 10.9 team to pump up work. He also added that the team working on the next version of OS is ensuring complete secrecy.

Previously the_ Wall Street Journal_, said that as far as iOS 7 is concerned, Ive is pushing a more “flat design” that is starker and simpler.
iRadio: Apple’s rumoured music streaming service which has been dubbed as iRadio by the tech industry is also likely to be launched at the conference. According to reports , Apple has already signed deals with Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group for music licenses as it gets ready to launch the music streaming service which will rival Pandora, Google’s music streaming service.
According to a report on Reuters, Apple also plans to sell audio ads on iRadio.
The report states, The iPhone maker, which has been working to put together for the past year, has contacted some of its bigger advertisers but hasn’t started selling the service extensively yet, one of the people said.
MacBooks: According to a report in MacRumours report which quotes, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo as stating that the MacBook Air could see an update by late in the second quarter with Apple’s MacBook Pro moving to an all-Retina lineup early in the third quarter.
The MacBook Air series is likely to see upgrades with faster processors and WiFi. A report in DigitalTrends, states that the new Apple lineup will come with Intel Haswell chips.
The report adds, these so-called Haswell chips promise a 10 percent boost in computer processing speeds and 50 percent improvement over the current integrated graphics chip Intel HD Graphics 4000.
The other awaited product is whether Apple will finally launch a MacBook Air with Retina Display but it seems unlikely to due to display’s heavy size. It also seems that the MacBook Pro could come with full-HD cameras.
**OS X 10.9:**The next level of Mac OS X is also likely to be previewed at the conference. There haven’t been too many leaks around this, and other than the fact that it will be named after a big cat, not much is known. What we are likely to see is more integration with iOS 7. According to the report on The Verge, Siri and Apple’s maps could be part of the new OS.
One more thing: The iWatch
One more thing was a trademark of Apple’s late founder and CEO Steve Jobs, who would pretend to be leaving the stage but then pause and add ‘one more thing’ and end up showing awesome Apple products.
Will Apple’s Tim Cook bring back the one more thing at WWDC? The one product that could be a part of this is the iWatch, a smart watch device that Apple is supposedly working on it.
Apple CEO Tim Cook had hinted that the company too was working on wearable computers. “It’s ripe for us all getting excited about. I think there will be tons of companies playing in this,” he said.
For the iWatch we’ll just have to wait and watch.
