The Apple Watch has been the newest and most popular product to have been released by Apple. However, after and exceptionally high demand at launch, the unavailability of the Apple Watch was a cause of concern. Accoording to
Wall Street Journal, “Expanding Watch’s availability is the next step in what has been a rocky roll-out of Apple’s first new hardware line since the iPad. The company started shipping Watch to customers on April 24 but limited sales to its online store. Not until mid-June did the device become available in Apple’s physical stores.” According to an update on the corporate website of
BestBuy, “Starting Aug. 7, Best Buy will be the first national retailer, other than Apple Stores, where customers can buy the Apple Watch. It will begin to arrive in more than 100 Best Buy stores and will also be available on BestBuy.com. Another 200 of our stores will have the Apple Watch in time for holiday shopping.” The update added, “The Apple Watch is an important addition to an emerging product category, and we know our customers want it,” said Jason Bonfig, senior category officer at Best Buy. “We are excited to bring Apple Watch to more consumers, especially with the holidays coming up.” There have concerns over the demand for the Apple Watch, with many even considering it to be a
**failure** . Given that Apple is now opening up the distribution of the Watch, it would be interesting to see if this would be the beginning of a new marketing strategy.
