While we were hoping that cellular connectivity will prove to be a game changer for smartwatches, a new Bloomberg report now reveals that the feature won’t be a part of the upcoming Apple Watch 2. The report adds that Apple tried to incorporate the feature, but failed to do so as it faced battery issues. Apple is said to have been talking to networks in US and UK already. However, the report claims that even if the cellular connectivity would have succeeded to be a part of the Watch 2, it apparently wouldn’t have come until later December. The feature affects the battery life, causing quick drain. So, the company is now looking for low-power cellular chips for the future devices. While there may be no cellular connectivity coming this year, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a watch. The upcoming watch to be released along side iPhone 7 and is expected to come with GPS and improved health-related features. Over the years, we have seen Apple decide trends. And, Watch with in-built cellular connectivity, without being connected to an iPhone, could make for a great standalone product. People were expecting a next-gen device with a more powerful processor and the eSIM reports floating around would vouch for cellular SIM support. However, looks like, users will have now have to wait.
