Apple is working hard towards restoring its developer program, nearly three weeks after it was first taken down, thanks to an attempted breach into the system. Even as Apple has restored some of the services already, the Cupertino-based company released an update on Monday, informing developers that it plans to reinstate the rest of the program by this week.
As of now, Certificates, Identifiers & Profiles, Dev Centers, software downloads, Videos, Apple Developer Forums, iTunes Connect, Bug Reporter, App Store Resource Center, and access to pre-release documentation are all up and running fine. Apple is going to try and put services like Member Center, Program Enrollment and Renewals, as well as Technical Support online this week. After Apple made the announcement, it managed to put Xcode Automatic Configuration as well as access to agreements online.
Most services are now online
“We apologize for the significant inconvenience that our downtime has caused and encourage you to reach out to our support team if you need any assistance,” wrote Apple in the update. You can check out which services are up on Apple’s fairly new Developer Center System Page, where the company updates the status of the services from time-to-time.
Apple had to take the entire site down in July following an attempted breach of security into the system. While sensitive information pertaining to developers registered on the site was encrypted and inaccessible, Apple had not ruled the possibility out that names, mailing addresses and email addresses of some developers could have been accessed. The company said that it had taken the entire site down even as it tried to overhaul security on it.
For the while these services remain down, Apple has promised developers that if their memberships were about to expire during the downtime, they would be extended and their apps will remain on the App Store and Mac App Store.
