Apple has released a new iPad app, Swift Playgrounds on the App Store. The app aims at making learning coding easy and fun for the users ranging from kids to students to people who are interested in coding in their spare time. The app was initially demonstrated during the WWDC 2016 announcement.
Swift Playgrounds takes real life coding concepts and turns them into an aspect of a game with interactive interface. This helps students as well as beginners to grasp the concept much more easily than trying to make sense of the concept in code format. One aspect that will be appreciated by users all over is that the app is easy enough for first-time users and powerful enough for skilled programmers.
Craig Federighi, Senior vice president of Software Engineering for Apple added "Everyone should have the opportunity to learn coding, and we are excited to bring Swift Playgrounds to the next generation of programmers looking for a fun and easy way to explore key coding concepts using real code, More than 100 schools around the world have already committed to adding Swift Playgrounds to their fall curriculum, and we can’t wait to see what students create with it."
Swift Playground includes goring through a series of puzzles and challenges while guiding three on-screen game characters in a graphical world. These include functions, commands, loops and conditional coding using variables. The company will continue to release new challenges so users can continue to learn new coding skills.
Users can also create their own programs with touch and graphic integrations using inbuilt updates. The app is compatible with iPad Air, iPod Pro, iPad mini 2 running on Apple iOS 10.
