Apple makes it mandatory for all new apps to embrace the Super Retina display and the notch

While the notch at the top of the iPhone X may appear annoying to some or a step back when it comes to full screen displays, Apple wants new app developers to embrace the same. Image: tech2/Rehan Hooda[/caption] According to a new developer notes (sent across by email) to app developers Apple indeed wants all apps to be compatible to iPhone X’s Super Retina display, which also means embracing the notch. The news also establishes the fact that more future iPhone models will feature Super Retina Displays with their respective notches, since Apple got rid of Touch ID this year on their top of line flagship smartphone offering. 9to5Mac  reveals that all new apps that will be submitted to the App Store from April 2018 have to support the Super Retina display and make adjustments to accommodate the annoying notch. For now the new rule only applies to new apps, so developers who have not optimised their apps for the iPhone X can breathe a sigh of relief. Other details in the email sent to developers sees Apple encouraging developers to take advantage of the latest iOS 11 features like Core ML, SiriKit and ARKit. According to noted KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi-Kuo, Apple is expected to launch three iPhones this year, with a new 6.1-inch model to make its debut. All three devices are expected to feature Face ID feature and lose the home button in favour of iPhone X’s gesture-based navigation.
