Apple announced the refreshed MacBook Pro lineup last night in the "Apple Special Event." MacBook Pro lineup got the much-needed refresh with 13-inch variants and 15-inch variants. There was no announcement regarding the Apple MacBook Air lineup, and we can assume that it is now defunct with availability depending on how long the stocks last.
The most important feature introduced alongside upgraded processor and improved touchpad and keyboard was the "Touch Bar." "Touch Bar" is an OLED touch-enabled strip which will enable quicker contextual access to shortcuts, actions and tools depending on the app that you are using. The company has also integrated "Touch ID" to the "Touch Bar" which will help users quickly authenticate applications and passwords using their fingerprint.
The company has launched a base 13-inch variant without the "Touch Bar" for the users who don't want the "Touch Bar." The lowest variant of MacBook Pro 13-inch with "Touch Bar" comes with dual-core Intel Core i5 clocked at 2.9GHz along with Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz. It will be equipped with 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD storage, Intel Iris Graphics 550 and four Thunderbolt 3 ports. The device is priced at $1,799 and ships 4-5 weeks later in the United States.
The high-end 13-inch MacBook Pro increases the storage capacity to 512GB SSD and costs at $1,999 with Touch Bar and Touch ID with 4-5 week shipping estimates. The most high-end MacBook Pro model comes with quad-core Intel Core i7 processor clocked at 2.7GHz with a Turbo Boost to bump up the clock to 3.6GHz. Apple packs 16GB RAM along with 512GB SSD, Radeon Pro 455 with 2GB dedicated GPU memory and four Thunderbolt 3 ports. It ships in 3-4 weeks for $2,799.
The availability for starting configuration of MacBook Pro 13-inch is estimated between 3-4 weeks in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom while the shipping estimate for the United States and Canada have increased to 4-5 weeks. On the other hand, MacBook Pro without the "Touch Bar" ships in 1 business day in United States, Canada, and Singapore.
It will start shipping on November 1 in Australia and the United Kingdom while it will start shipping from November 2 in Hong Kong. There are no shipping dates available for the new MacBook lineup in India including the pricing. Apple released the pricing for the Indian market with the lowest MacBook Pro configuration with function keys priced at Rs 1,29,900 but retracted the pricing later on.
