It’s been a little over a month since the Apple flagship devices – the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus – went on sale in India. And now, there’s already chatter about the next iPhone.
According to TrendForce, Apple is expected to release the next iPhone, which is currently known as iPhone 7 in the second half of 2016. From its analysis, TrendForce says the major selling points in the iPhone 7 will be 3GB RAM with a 5.5-inch display.
In addition, the phone will be waterproof. It is estimated by TrendForce that 260 million iPhones would be shipped next year. This works out to approximately 12.5 percent growth with a market share of 18.5 percent.
In addition, TrendForce also said Apple will release the upgraded 4-inch iPhone C series in the second half of 2016.
Samsung is expected to witness a 4 percent fall in annual shipments to 310 million due to price undercutting by Chinese competitors. In contrast, Apple is expected to narrow the gap in market share with Samsung next year as well.
If Apple increases its RAM to 3GB in the next iPhone, it would be a shift in its initial approach till now. The iPhone 6s, for instance, had doubled the amount of RAM in it, as compared to the iPhone 6 launched a year prior.
