In the upcoming iPad iteration, Apple may introduce the ability to run two apps simultaneously on a single screen. According to some people relevant to the matter, iOS 8 will bring split-screen multitasking feature to the iPad, reports 9To5Mac.
It should be noted that Samsung’s TouchWiz as well as Microsoft Windows 8 already has this feature. With things not-so hunky dory for Apple, the company is ensuring to leave no stone unturned in order to stay ahead in the competition. Whether developed by Apple or from the Apple App store, currently all apps run individually with a full screen view.
The new feature will reportedly allow separate apps to interact with each other. For instance, the update will allow dragging text or images from one app to another. This is something, we have already seen in Microsoft’s Surface tablets. Its snap multitasking feature allows users to view and use multiple apps on the device display.
According to 9To5Mac’s Mark Gurman, “A split-screen iPad multitasking feature has been requested by iPad fans for several years and some designers have even designed sample user-interfaces, unofficial tweaks, and videos for how they would like the feature to function. " He further points out that the feature has been designed keeping in mind the 9.7-inch display, but it isn’t clear whether it will work with the iPad mini. It could also be a crucial feature for the long-time rumoured gigantic 12.9-inch iPad .
