If reports from various mobile operating system trackers are to be believed than iOS 8 has started with a slower adoption rate compared to its predecessors. Trackers like
Mixpanel
, Chitika
and Tapjoy
claim that iOS 8 adoption isn’t as quick as seen with the iOS 7. Mobile usage monitoring firms Mixpanel and Appsee show iOS 8 adoption rate of between 16 and 17 percent, which is half of what we saw for iOS 7 within the first 24 hours. Tapjoy reveals that the numbers showing iOS 8 adoption are at a slow rate than iOS 7 as well as iOS 6. Chitika reveals an adoption pace of 7.3 percent, again, slower than the both its previous iterations. [caption id=“attachment_234727” align=“aligncenter” width=“640”]

The iOS 8 adoption rate is significantly high, but it falls short of the buzz created by iOS 7. The reasons for this slow adoption rate are quite obvious. Firstly, iPhone 6 and the larger iPhone 6 Plus have received record pre-orders. So, the number of people looking for a replacement won’t really bother updating their devices. It should also be noted that the iOS 8 isn’t a complete overhaul like the 7th iteration. So, there aren’t many visual changes to attract users instantly. This means, it isn’t as hotly anticipated as its predecessor. Another possible reason could be the iOS 8 requires a lot of space -
