Apple in Talks With Google for iTV Content

Google and Apple Computer are reportedly in talks over video content on Apple’s iTV device, which lets users watch video content on their desktop PCs. Google’s consumer product chief, Marissa Mayer, told US magazine, Newsweek that the two companies are currently “engaged in talks” for the same.

iTV, which will hit the market early next year at a price of $299, will consist of a video streaming player within a “set-top box” with wireless technology to stream video on a TV. The product is Apple’s attempt to bridge the gap between the PC and television.

Discussions between Google and Apple could allow iTV users access to thousands of videos submitted to Google video via a simple menu item. Although the capabilities of the device are similar to Wintel set top boxes already in the US market, Apple seems confident that the launch will work in its favour.
