Apple in talks to get programming content for a streaming pay-TV service

Apple is in talks aimed at getting hold of content for a pay-television service, technology news website Re/code reported on Wednesday. The California-based maker of iPhones, iPads, iPods, Macintosh computers and Apple TV boxes is exploring the potential for deals that would let it sell bundles of programming directly to viewers. Apple could model a service after recent moves by Dish and Sony to work with programmers to deliver live TV shows along with the kind of on-demand video just cable companies sell. Apple has made several attempts at finding a key to the television market, including marketing an Apple TV box for routing content from the Internet to home screens. Apple would not comment for this report. Earlier **reports** suggest that Apple was working on new music-streaming service which will integrate with Beats Music. According to an exclusive report on 9to5Mac, Apple will “deeply integrate Beats into iOS, iTunes, and the Apple TV,” and launch a new music app with Beats infused in it. The app will rely on cloud streaming. Also, Apple won’t ditch iTunes Radio, and iTunes Store services for now. The streaming music service will be paid, of course, and it could cost $7.99 per month, says the report. AFP
