Apple confirms patching 'KRACK' Wi-Fi vulnerability on iOS, tvOS, watchOS and macOS betas

Apple has confirmed that it has patched the serious vulnerabilities in the WPA2 Wi-Fi standard in their beta software for all of their devices. However, the patched beta software available for iOS, tvOS, watchOS and macOS devices have yet to released to the general public. [caption id=“attachment_4016235” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]Representational image. Reuters Representational image. Reuters[/caption] Known as “ **KRACK", the vulnerability**  was revealed by researcher Mathy Vanhoef, and reportedly affects millions of routers, smartphones, PCs and other devices globally and across operating systems. iMore’s Rene Ritchie confirmed from Apple, stating that the Cupertino Giant has already fixed the vulnerability in their betas and that the same will be fixed for general users as soon as the update leaves the beta. The KRACK exploit basically attacks the manner in which WPA2 protects Wi-Fi access points. The source points out that unlike the past, where everyone moved from WEP to WPA2 (a new standard), the standard can be fixed via a patch. It’s just that it is up to manufacturers of all these devices to release firmware updates that will fix the exploit. Whether you are on a Windows, Android or an iOS or macOS device, the best way to stay safe is to keep you firmware updated to the latest version and hope that manufacturers have patched the same.
