Apple collected 91 percent profit share from global smartphone sales in the third quarter of 2016

According to a new report by an analyst firm on the profits made by smartphone companies, it was revealed that Apple takes up the biggest chunk, hogging up 91 percent of the profit share pie. The ability to maintain such high profitability rate in the market has helped Apple take the top of the table in the profit share index made for the market by ‘Strategy Analytics.’ All other smartphone manufacturers are not above the 2.5 percent marker. According to the article, the 91 percent share translates to $8.5 billion cash along with all other smartphone makers not crossing the $0.2 billion regarding the operating profit. Furthermore, the report states that the global smartphones sale profits reached $9 billion during the period across the world. According to Linda Sui, the Director of Strategy Analytics, “Apple dominated and captured a record 91 percent share of all smartphone profits worldwide. Apple’s ability to maximise pricing and minimise production cost is hugely impressive and the iPhone continues to generate monster profits.” “Huawei captured 2 percent share of all smartphone profits, taking the second spot overall, and becoming the world’s most profitable Android vendor for the first time,” added Neil Mawston, Executive Director at Strategy Analytics.
