App updates this week: Google camera, iTunes Extras, Android Chromecast and more!

As usual we had a slew of app updates this week across different operating systems, including Windows Phone, iOS, Android and Mac. Google included few but important refinements to its camera and keyboard apps, while Apple introduced an all-new iTunes Extras app for Mac and Apple TV users. Here’s a quick look at at some of the key app updates this week:   1. Google Camera for Android  The latest update to Google’s native camera app now supports the Remote Shutter feature for Android Wear. This update allows users to capture photos on their paired Android devices by clicking the camera button on their Android wearable device. The update also gives users better control over panorama shots, plus a ‘help’ feature that teaches new users how to use the app.   Download the latest update from the Google Play store.   2. Apple iTunes Extras for iOS and Mac The latest version of iTunes for Macs includes iTunes Extras, an app that offers additional video content such as behind-the-scenes, image galleries and interviews. This feature is applicable only for HD movies on iTunes. iTunes Extras is also available for iOS 7 on Apple TV, though iPhone and iPad users will have to wait until Apple releases iOS 8 to avail the new feature.   3. Google Keyboard for Android The Google keyboard has received a minor update where users can type in new languages including Indian English. The microphone button, previously placed next to the spacebar, now has a new home at the top of the keyboard. One of the key changes is that the app supports spoken emoji. For example, you can say ‘smiley face’ or ‘sad face’  for the app to convert text into emoticons.   Download the Google Keyboard app on the Play store.   4. Twitter for Windows Phone The update includes support for uploading and sharing photos. For example, Windows Phone users can now upload multiple images in a single tweet and tag friends in the photos. Chromecast for Android    The Chromecast app now lets you mirror an Android device to your TV. Which means users can easily mirror all content, inclding videos, games and apps from their smartphones and tablets, and watch them on a big screen. The update will be made available on select Android devices such as Samsung, LG and HTC, before rolling it out to other Android devices.   Download the 1.7 version of the Chromecast app on the Google Play store.
