There’s plenty to talk about when it comes to hacker group Anonymous. But this time around, they are up to something really big and in the interest of the general public. The recent terrorist attacks in the city of Paris have now got the attention of the hacktivist group that has now, declared war on ISIS. In a video clip, a Anonymous hacker speaks out in French, threatening ISIS. The representative goes on to say that Anonymous will soon launch its biggest operation yet against ‘Daesh’ and that it will be a worldwide bounty hunt, that will see a number of people connected to the same getting exposed. “Daesh”, a term which clearly ticks the ISIS off, is a play on words and that is also termed as an insult. Referring to the ISIS as “Daesh” also puts forth the ISIS less as a caliphate state and more as a small group with 30,000 fighters. https://twitter.com/GroupAnon/status/665956057005559808 At the end of it all, Anonymous tweeted that it won’t stop opposing IS and also proudly promoted the fact that they are better hackers as well. The recent attacks have been horrific and somehow come pretty close to what Al-Quaeda pulled off in Mumbai back on 26/11. The attacks had been pulled off in a sort of chain reaction spreading wide-spread panic and chaos, planting fear in the minds of the city’s citizens.
Although ISIS has been famous for all its attacks on other less-broader topics of interest in the past, #OpISIS is clearly one its generally acceptable motives and will find plenty of backers from those who seek revenge.
