Android N to get a name in a few weeks: Google

After the roll out of the Developer Preview of Android N (which landed early this year), there is a lot that has been known about Google’s next milestone update for its mobile OS, currently tagged as Android N. After Google CEO, Sundar Pichai visited India and announced that the company would be taking the “name” of the upcoming update seriously, little did we know that Pichai was dead serious. Soon after at Google I/O upon revealing many other details about Android N, the search giant also revealed a website where users could head to enter what they think would be the perfect name for Android’s next update. https://twitter.com/Android/status/740568083446648832 From Italian Nutella to Indian Nankhatai, Google has been receiving plenty of entries and has been pushing out plenty of teasers related to the same. While the recent teaser that shows Professional Naming, Inc. CEO revealing how anyone can come up with a great name, the tweet also revealed that the entries have closed and that the final name will be revealed in a few weeks from now. https://twitter.com/Android/status/732993837535088642 The makeshift Professional Naming, Inc. has been giving plenty of naming tips since may, and this is indeed the first year that Google has asked the general public for its opinions. So the name for Android N could turn out to be quite a random one, that may not necessarily associate with anyone in India. Still then, looking at past names, we can tell that Google may christen the new update with a well-known sweet instead.
