Android Key Lime Pie references spotted on Chromium bug tracker

Google hasn’t been resting on its laurels after releasing Android 4.3 Jelly Bean into the wild. AusDroid has spotted a new build number in the Chromium bug tracker that heavily hints towards a new version of Android. The build is dubbed KRS36B. The interesting thing about the build is the K in the name, which denotes Key Lime Pie.

Earlier builds revealed through the Chromium bug tracker have had the appropriate letters in the name to denote the version. For example, Android 4.3 on the Nexus 7 is JSS15J and the Nexus 4 version of the 4.3 update is JWR66V.

Getting closer to an announcement?

Sadly enough, there hasn’t bean any other mention of Key Lime Pie in the bug tracker; no details have been confirmed so far. Google is set to host a new event on October 15 where it will be showing off a new Nexus 10 as well as a new smartphone bearing the Nexus moniker.

Key Lime Pie is set to be the next major overhaul to Android after Ice Cream Sandwich brought along the Holo themed UI. The version of Android is speculated to be 5, but looking at how Jelly Bean came along, it could very well also be 4.4.

With the constant leaks about a new Android update throughout the year, it was assumed that Google would straight away be putting out a major one with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Instead, Google announced that it was going to release an update within the Jelly Bean family – Android version 4.3.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
