Google is all set to roll out a new feature for Chrome that will help reduce data consumption. In an official blog post, Google has revealed its plans to roll out an update to Chrome for Android and iOS to help users cut down data consumption by as much as 50 percent.
The feature also brings in Chrome’s Safe Browsing technology that will safeguard users’ device and data from malicious webpages. User can start saving on data charges and turn on secure browsing by visiting - “Settings” > “Bandwidth management” > “Reduce data usage.” One will find toggle switch and they need to simply turn“On”. It will also help you track how much bandwidth you’ve been able to save each month while browsing on Chrome.
In addition, the search giant also plans to add Google Translate in Chrome for iOS in the next few days. The update will allow users to translate webpages in Chrome with the click of a button on the iPhone/iPad, similar to Chrome for desktop and Android. In order to translate a page into your phone or tablet’s native language, one has to simply look for the translation bar and select “Translate.”
Chrome for Android will now allow users to create shortcuts to their favorite websites right from the homescreen. Users can save a site directly from their toolbar menu by selecting “Add to homescreen” and the bookmark will land up on the first empty spot on your home screens, which is neat way to organise bookmarks on your phone.
These updates will be rolling out in the coming days, but there’s no time frame given. Users can down Chrome for Android and iOS from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store respectively, and wait for the update to hit the app.
