Android Auto comes to India and 17 other countries

Google’s Android tweeted out yesterday that it rolled out in-car operating system Android Auto in 18 new countries including India. Brazil, Russia, Chile, Switzerland, Columbia, Paraguay, Venezuela, among others are on the list too. https://twitter.com/Android/status/717064192361148416?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw To use Android Auto, you need an Android Auto compatible vehicle or aftermarket radio and an Android phone running 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher. When you connect your Android phone to the compatible vehicle or radio, Android Auto will display applications on the vehicle’s screen. Android Auto is now available in 29 countries across the world and it is compatible with models from car makers including Audi, Honda, Volkswagen. Stereos makers like Kenwood and Pioneer have also manufactured compatible models. In India, Mahindra XUV 500 was the first car to come with Android Auto support and will offer the same with its new Scorpio. Hyundai will soon launch its 2017 Elantra variant with Android Auto and its rival – Apple CarPlay support, says this report. This roll out is being touted as one of Android Auto’s biggest ones so far. “Three of them—Brazil, India, and Russia—are among the fastest growing auto markets in the world,” says this TechCrunch report.
