Android 4.3 is coming soon to these smartphones and tablets

It’s been a week since Google announced the latest version of Android, numbered at 4.3 and retaining the Jelly Bean moniker. Despite the lack of any visual changes, the update to the OS brings about quite a few under-the-hood fixes that will make Android an overall better and smoother experience. Now, if it were Google making all of the Android smartphones out there, almost every single one of them would’ve been updated already. However, it’s not up to Google, and so, here’s a list of smartphones that have either been confirmed, or are expected to get updated to Android 4.3.

Sony
The Japanese company has announced Android 4.3 for quite a few of its devices. Almost all of the major devices that were launched this year will be getting the update, including the flagship Xperia Z series as well as the Xperia SP and the Tablet Z. Here’s the complete list:

Sony’s current crop of Xperia devices will definitely get the update

Sony has also stated that some of its older smartphones, including the Xperia L, will also be getting the update. However, there hasn’t been any official list of these handsets so far.

Samsung
The Google Edition of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S4 has already gotten the 4.3 update, which means the regular S4 will also be getting it. There hasn’t been any official word from Samsung about the update for the S4, sadly, but the fact that it is a flagship device alone could be evidence enough for it getting the update. A couple of other devices expected to get the update include last year’s flagship devices—the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2. Here’s the complete list:

Despite the lack of any official word, it would be strange if the S4 didn’t get the update

HTC
HTC doesn’t have many devices under its belt this year so far. However, its flagship handset—the One—will undoubtedly be getting the update, especially when taking into consideration that the Google Play Edition of the One has already gotten the updated. Another handset expected to get the update is the more wallet-friendly HTC One mini. However, the smartphone hasn’t even been properly launched yet, so the update could still be some time away.

Nexus
It goes without saying that any device bearing the Nexus moniker is sure to get updated to the latest version of Android. If you haven’t already updated, every Nexus device going as far back as the Samsung-made Galaxy Nexus has already gotten it, so be sure to check for the update in your device’s About Phone/Tablet menu. What did you expect?! It’s a Nexus!

Sadly enough, the older Nexus S won’t be getting the update. The device was also given the raw end of the deal when Android 4.2 started rolling out. The Nexus S can only be updated up to Android 4.1.

LG
Other than the Nexus 4, there hasn’t been any official word about LG’s devices getting the 4.3 update. However, considering how close the Optimus G is to the Nexus 4 under the hood, we expect that it will be getting the update as soon as LG can push it out. Other devices expected to get the update include the recently-launched Optimus G Pro as well as the much-rumoured Optimus G2. According to a recent leak, the low-end Optimus L7 2 Dual is also expected to get the update. Here’s the complete list:
