Andrew Wilson to be new CEO of Electronic Arts

A few months after revealing that John Riccitiello stepped down from his position of CEO of Electronic Arts, the company has finally revealed who will be taking Riccitiello’s place. According to a post on the EA blog by Larry Probst, EA Sports and Origin head Andrew Wilson is picking up the reigns after Riccitiello’s departure.

“The rigorous search conducted by our Board included several talented executives from both outside the company and from within EA,” said Probst in a post on EA’s blog. “Andrew’s appointment is a clear demonstration of the deep bench of management talent at EA, and reflects our fundamental belief that EA is on track to become the global leader in interactive games and services.”

Soon after, Wilson made another post on the blog, titled “A message from CEO Andrew Wilson,” where he explained his history with the company, as well as his vision moving forward.

“Let me start by saying I am deeply honored and humbled to become EA’s CEO,” said Wilson. “I have a profound respect and passion for this organization, as well as for our global community of fans, and I’m incredibly motivated to serve our people, our gamers and our shareholders at such an exciting time in our industry.”

Wilson said that he will be focusing on three things: continued transformation for EA’s digital services, delivering games and services across platforms and driving the company’s profits higher.

Wilson was earlier in charge of EA’s Sports division, which as the name might imply, was responsible for all of the company’s popular sports titles, including the FIFA and Madden series. He was also in charge of the company’s digital distribution platform Origin.
