The weraables category is being explored by all big manufacturers, and there are no brownie points for guessing HTC is working on a smartwatch too. The rumour is further sparked not by a leak, but HTC’s own video that gives a glimpse of the watch. HTC’s official video that lasts not more than 1.05 minutes shows a square-shaped watch. The video named “HTC Design - Behind The Scenes” shows some employees at a desk, probably testing the watch. The video also shows a 3D render of the watch on one of the computer displays. This means, the company clearly wants everyone to know that it working on a watch, which could be launched anytime soon. Take a look at the view below:
HTC had a great start to the year with the One M8 that managed to woo audiences. The company also launched its ’low-cost’ phones in India recently. Now, lets see if it manages to strike a chord with the watch. The upcoming smartwatch is likely to run modified **Android Wear** OS that has been customised with a layer of HTC’s Sense UI. Evidently, there is a lot of competition already out there for this yet-to-be released wearable. To begin with, Google’s already launched Android Wear watches built by LG and Samsung. The highly anticipated Moto 360 could be launched anytime soon, while **Apple** and **Microsoft** are also said to be working on watches that are likely to be launched in October. Google’s first batch of Android Wear devices are limited to devices running Android 4.3 and above, the iWatch will obviously work only with iOS, but Microsoft reportedly plans to broaden its reach with support for other platforms too. It is still unclear if the HTC Watch will be exclusive to its own devices.
