AMD has released two new dual-core processors that are based on the same design as the Phenom quad-core processors. The Athlon X2 7000 series is designed for budget desktops, has three levels of cache and supports HyperTransport 3.0. The new processors that have been introduced are the 2.5GHz Athlon X2 7550, which is only available to OEMs and a 2.7GHz Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition, which is priced at $79 and will be available to consumers.
Tweaktown here has already done a comprehensive report , so check that out to get a feeling for how the processor performs. We hope AMD is able to push out more processors soon. At the current pace, AMD is fast becoming virtually a relic with dwindling sales and a fairly severe performance disadvantage compared to its competitor.
