AMD Disapproves of SYSmark 2012 Benchmark

Test labs across all the world use a whole bunch of benchmarks and tests while reviewing products. SYSmark 2012 isn’t the most used one, but it’s quite popular in the reviewer circle. The benchmark suite is published and developed by BAPCo (Business Applications Performance Corporation). AMD has announced its decision to not approve of the latest SYSmark 2012 benchmark suite, as it thinks that the results did not accurately portray the performance of their products. AMD was a part of the BAPCo consortium. Some of the other companies that were part of this group are Intel, Sony, Dell, HP and Microsoft. This leaves Intel as the only major processor vendor in the consortium.

The new SYSmark 2012 benchmark suite uses a collection of software and gauges performances. Some of the software included in the test are components of the Adobe suite such as Photoshop, Premiere, Flash After Effects. Autodesk’s 3DS Max, AutoCAD along with other mainstream desktop applications such as Internet Explorer, Office 2010, Firefox and WinZIP are part of this test. AMD stated that they would only endorse tests that would reflect real world performance and unbiased scores.
