Amazon updates Kindle for iPad to support Retina Display

The Retina Display that the new iPad sports already has developers working on bumping up their apps. Now, we know Amazon would rather have you own their own Kindle Fire tablet, but for Apple loyalists, they’ve bumped up their Kindle app for the iPad to support the new Retina Display. The new version of the app wants to make reading seamless and has a new library view that makes book covers look brighter. Fonts have also been updated. The app, on the new iPad as well as older versions, will be able to access content from the product itself as well as the cloud. Getting by Apple’s revenue share system, Amazon will still not let you download e-books directly from the app. You have to go to www.amazon.com/kindlestoreforipad from your mobile browser. The Kindle app for iPad is available for free from the iOS App Store.

The silhouette is bumped up for Retina Display

This of course, will mean that the Kindle app for iPad will be a lot heavier than it previously was. And if you’re downloading the app for the first time on an older iPad, you, of course, do not have the choice to download a version that is lighter and not designed for Retina Display. The new iPad is already on sale in the first round of countries where it currently is the 16th of March. It’s already been a big hit in Australia where a local phone company, Telstra, started selling the product eight hours before the Apple Store started selling. Which means they started selling at exactly midnight on the 16th of March. Users also seemed excited to have a 4G-enabled iPad.
