Amazon is about to celebrate its 20th birthday by announcing a special ‘Prime Day’, a massively discounted 24 hours of shopping which is said to feature ‘more deals than Black Friday.’ However, according to an official statement by Amazon , this global shopping event will be available to Amazon Prime customers. The event will take place on July 15 in the US, the UK, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Canada and Austria.
At the moment, no details from Amazon whatsoever has been disclosed about the sale but the company stated that ’new deals starting as often as every ten minutes.’ The deals are available to new and existing members of Prime as well which costs $99 a year and includes access to the Instant Video streaming service, Prime Music and free two-day shipping on select items.
“Prime Day is a one-day only event filled with more deals than Black Friday,” said Greg Greeley, vice president of Amazon Prime, in a statement. “If you’re not already a Prime member, you’ll want to join so you don’t miss out on one of the biggest deals extravaganzas in the world.”
According to an earlier report , Amazon India users could have some good news in 2015 as the company could introduce its premium Amazon Prime service subscription in the country, says a report in Economic Times .
According to the report, which quotes sources, Amazon India, “has tasked Nitesh Kripalani, former executive vice president at Multi Screen Media — which runs Sony Entertainment Channels — to get access to ‘digital content’ and the company is expected to start negotiations with Indian media houses including Yash Raj Films and Eros International.
